Not here. It’s now all on my wargames blog, Derek’s Wee Toys, or archived at www.hodgenet.co.uk/old/
Why? – I first started a wargames website in 1996 on space provided by a long defunct Internet Services Provider who went bust owing me more than £2,000 for public relations services. First carry-out food shop in Scotland to take orders over the web anyone? It was Dhillon’s in Falkirk, sometime in 1996 if I remember correctly.
In the early 2000s I transferred the site to this domain and I continued to post lots of wargaming material. I kept updating the site regularly until May 2006, when I discovered blogging software and set up Derek’s Wee Toys.
I left hodgenet.co.uk largely alone until May 2012 when I took a look at the site and found it was quite frankly embarrassing. The design was OK for a hobby website when I started it in the 1990s, it even had templates, but in 2012 it looked antiquated and distinctly amateurish.
Worse of all hodgenet.co.uk is what shows up right at the top of the list if you do a Google search on “Derek Hodge”. I don’t mind people finding out I play games with toy soldiers, but I do mind them thinking that the old website is the best I can do.
It’s just too much like hard work to revamp the old web site and bring it up to what I consider an acceptable standard, but there are still some resources there that some people might find useful so I’ve decided to archive it at www.hodgenet.co.uk/old/ where it can hide behind this disclaimer, saving me from embarrassment.
